Nas is giving away rights to two of his songs with new NFT deal. The veteran rapper has partnered with blockchain platform Royal to sell fifty percent of the royalty rights of “Ultra Black” and “Rare,” as NFTs.

“I am always looking for new and unique ways to connect with the people,” Nas said in a statement. “So, I am excited to partner with Royal on their new endeavor in order for the world to connect with my music in a new way.”

Royal CEO and co-founder Justin “3LAU” Blau also released a statement, saying “Having Nas be the first artist to sell royalty rights through Royal is an incredible affirmation of our mission,” Royal’s CEO and co-founder Justin “3LAU” Blau said. “It’s proof that artists across genres feel strongly about democratizing ownership of their music, and that they want to be connected to their listeners on a deeper level.”

“Since Royal’s launch, we’ve received overwhelming feedback from artists across genres, who feel strongly about connecting with their fans in new ways,” Blau added. “Having Nas involved first as an investor and now as the first artist to drop on Royal is enormous validation of our mission to redefine music ownership, and this partnership is just the beginning.”

Sales of the Nas NFTs will begin on January 11. “Ultra Black,” which appeared on 2020’s Grammy Award winning King’s Disease is available for as low as $50 while “Rare” from King’s Disease II is available for $99.

Royal users can currently sign up on the website to be notified by email when the sale begins, and one song will be available at a time. Limited amount of limited digital assets will be available for purchase, “on a first-come, first-serve basis,” says Justin Blau.
