Report: 22-Year Old Astroworld Victim Declared Brain Dead

22-Year old Bharti Shahani has been hospitalized since Friday following the crowd surge at Astroworld 2021.

UPDATE: Bharti Shahani was taken off life support on Wednesday (Nov. 10), and became Astroworld’s ninth victim. A rep for the family says they want justice for Bharti, and demand accountability from the organizers. May she rest in peace.

Travis Scott currently has a lot to answer for, some of which he may never recover from. Its been almost a week since the unfortunate incident at Astroworld, but new information about the victims and what led to the chaos keep surfacing daily.

In a new report by TMZ, a victim in the Astroworld disaster has been declared brain dead. 22-year old Bharti Shahani reportedly attended the concert at NRG park with her sister and cousin, but was caught in the 50,000 crowd surge. TMZ reports Shahani has been fighting for her life on a ventilator since Friday and doctors fear she may become the ninth fatality from the tragedy.

Eight people have already been confirmed dead, with several others still hospitalized.

Travis Scott has been under fire for encouraging violence culture at his concerts, and for ignoring the screams for help from the concertgoers.

Shahani’s sister, Namrata made it out of the stampede in one peace, but unfortunately Shahani didn’t. The Texas A&M senior reportedly suffered multiple heart attacks during and after the crush, and was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance. It’s unclear if Shahani is still on a ventilator, but the family will speak with doctors to determine next step.

On Monday (November 8), Harris County released the names of all eight victims, ranging from 14-27 years old, Mirza Baig, 27, Rodolfo Peña, 23, Madison Dubiski, 23, Franco Patiño, 21, Jacob Jurinke, 20, John Hilgert, 14, Axel Acosta Avila, 21, and Brianna Rodriguez, 16, lost their lives that ill-fated night.

9-year-old Ezra Blount is currently in a medically-induced coma after becoming a victim of the stampede.

Scott, 30 said in an Instagram video that he only became aware of the severity of the situation until after the show, however most people aren’t buying it.

Basil Baig, the brother of one of the deceased said Scott and everyone associated with the event should be held responsible. “He [didn’t] stop the show even with people chanting and to stop the show. He allowed it. This was a blood bath and all of it is on his hands.”
