Thousands Sign Petition To Cancel Travis Scott’s Coachella 2022 Performance

People petition Coachella organizers to drop Travis Scott from next year’s festival.

UPDATE: The petition has reached it’s goal of 25,000 signatures. Now we wait.

Travis Scott continue to come under fire after the tragic events that transpired at his Astroworld Festival in Houston Texas this past weekend.

Social media users have criticized the rapper for inciting violence and failing to protect fans at many of his past concerts and have started a Change.org petition to have him removed from next year’s Coachella festival.

As at press time over 16,000 people have signed the petition started by Sendero Secreto. In the petition addressed to Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett, Goldenvoice and AEG, Secreto accuses Travis Scott of “gross negligence,” and “lack of compassion” for concertgoers.

“With the recent tragic and unnecessary death at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, due to Scott’s own gross negligence and sheer lack of compassion for human life, we ask AEG, Paul Tollet, and Goldenvoice to remove [him] as [a] performer at all of their festivals,” the campaign’s organizer Sendero Secreto wrote.

Scott, 30 addressed the tragedy in a video statement, insisting he was unaware of the severity of the situation, but Secreto believes he’s only trying to save face.

“After watching Travis Scott’s apology video it’s very clear that he’s trying to avoid blame in the unnecessary deaths of his fans,” Secreto wrote in an update.

“At no point in his video ‘apology’ did we think [he] was genuinely sorry for the loss of lives at his concert.”

Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the crowd surge at the Astroworld event that left eight people dead, and 300 injured. The youngest victim was only 14 years old.

Meanwhile, the rapper has canceled his headlining set at Day N Vegas and has promised to cover the funeral costs of the Astroworld deceased.
