Kanye West’s theatrical rollout for Donda seems to have paid off as the album just became his fastest ever project to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify, reports chart data.
RapCaviar, Spotify’s official hip hop playlist confirmed the milestone with a tweet.
Kanye West released his tenth studio album “Donda” on August 29 after several delays and controversies. The gospel-themed album named after his late mother debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200, moving a whopping 309,000 equivalent album units in its first week. These numbers include 357.4 million on-demand streams and 37,000 in pure sales.
