A self-described retired drug kingpin, Corey “Ghost” Holland filed a $1 billion lawsuit against 50 Cent and Power executive producer Courtney Kemp back in April, accusing them of stealing his life story for the popular Starz drama series, Power.
According to AllHipHop, Holland says his relationship with Kemp goes back to the early 90s and alleges Kemp and 50 based at least 200 Power scenes on his experiences as a drug dealer.
Last week Holland filed documents to “legally protect his interests and his family and his legal justification if violence becomes necessary to protect him or his family.”
In his motion, Holland accuses 50 Cent of bullying him with “subliminal shots.”
“[Holland] wants to address this matter now and hopefully have it ceased before someone loses their life. [Holland] wants to keep this fight in the court, but is not afraid in [any] kind of way of other kind of confrontation with anyone,” the motion reads.
A decision hasn’t been made yet but there’s a strong chance the judge will dismiss the entire case. Holland filed it in April of this year. Since the last episode of Power aired in February of 2020, that’s past the one-year statute of limitations New York state places on such claims.
