Drake and 21 Savage have collaborated on a handful of tracks including “Knife Talk” from
CLB, However the British rapper says he probably wouldn’t care much for Drake’s music if he wasn’t in the rap game.
“N-ggas don’t be listening to Drake like that,” 21 said in an interview with DJ Akademiks on his Off The Record podcast. “If I wasn’t a rapper, I don’t feel like I still would listen to Drake, for real. It’s just I’m a rapper, so I understand the work he put in, how hard he go.”
21 added that a lot of street folks don’t care about statistics and claims most people in Atlanta consider Future to be the bigger artist.
“Like when you ain’t no rapper, all them statistics don’t mean sht. “A regular street ngga don’t give a fuck about how many times you went number one, like how many white people listen to your sh*t because they don’t even think,” he said. “The farthest they think is the club. Who’s selling this club out? That’s who they think is the biggest n-gga In Atlanta, it’s a lot of n-ggas who you really can’t tell them Future ain’t bigger than Drake. I used to think that.”
He also talks about not wanting to be on Donda because of his loyalty to Drake. It’s not that serious.
“Me personally, I wouldn’t have wanted to be on Donda. That’s just the kind of n***a I am,” Savage said, implying that his loyalty to Drake supersedes the benefits he might receive if extended that opportunity from West, Drake’s known rival.”
