Digital Underground’s Shock G Dead at 57
Hip Hop has sadly lost another iconic figure. Pioneer of the Oakland rap scene Shock G has died at the age of 57.
The rapper, whose birth name was Gregory Jacobs was reportedly found dead by his father in a Tampa Hotel room on Thursday. TMZ reports cause of death is still unclear.
Several of his colleagues in the industry including E-40, Jhené Aiko, and Questlove have taken to social media to pay their respects to the late Digital Underground MC.

Damn. Fiona Apple just hit & told me this cool story about her pushing a cart in the Home Depot parking lot, & saw Shock G (97) & both were mutual fans (DU was her 1st rap purchase/He would spin “Never Is A Promise”at gigs) they would email/exchange lyrics to each other. 😥
