Teck-Zilla has to be the hardest working African hip hop producer, no one comes close at this moment.
For the last couple of years the Nigerian DJ/producer has consistently pushed out quality collaborative projects that have helped in showcasing and advancing African hip hop talents.
Teck’s appreciation for lyricism combined with his love for vintage boom bap is what sets him apart from the rest, but despite nearly two decades of consistency and quality releases, Teck-Zilla still hasn’t gained the sort of recognition worthy of his talents.
“I think I have come to the realization that I may not get the “recognition” per-se and I’m cool with it to be honest,” Teck tells Creative during a previous interview. “It’s mentally draining if I dwell on it too much.”
Teck-Zilla is obviously happy in his own space and grateful to be able to do what he loves.
Following projects with Mode 9, MCskill ThaPreacha, IllBliss and Psalmurai, the hip hop veteran is currently prepping the release of his next collaborative effort titled “The Harder The Better” with Nigerian MC Mista Books.
The duo recently released the project’s first single “Try Angles,” which finds Books celebrating himslef with an undeniable swagger.
“The Harder The Better” is scheduled to arrive February 11. Listen to “Try Angels” below.
