Lil Wayne And Kodak Black Pardoned By Donald Trump

Lil Wayne and Kodak Black have been pardoned by President Trump. Both rappers were granted clemency on Wednesday (Jan. 20) alongside several other people including former White House adviser Steve Bannon, and several ex-congressman.

“President Trump granted a full pardon to Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., also known as 'Lil Wayne,'" a statement from White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany read. "Mr. Carter pled guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, owing to a conviction over 10 years ago. Brett Berish of Sovereign Brands, who supports a pardon for Mr. Carter, describes him as 'trustworthy, kind-hearted and generous.'"

Back in October last year, Lil Wayne received smoke for publicly endorsing Trump in the recently concluded US presidential election.

“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done,” the rapper posted on Twitter.

Lil Wayne’s endorsement of Trump, intentional or not turned out to be a chess move as he’s now a free man. The New Orleans rapper pleaded guilty to illegal gun possession  last month, after a December 2019 arrest and was facing up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted, while Kodak Black was expected to be released in 2022.
