T.I Discusses 'Ye Vs The People' On Hot 97

Fresh off assisting Kanye West on "Ye Vs The People", T.I stopped by Hot 97 on Tuesday (May 1st) to discuss how the controversial track came together. "He and I stepped outside, and I said, 'What's up, bro? I'm sure you've got it all figured out. What's the punchline?' And he was like, "Yo, free thought man. I felt free to be an independent thinker." T.I. says.

"The longer I spent talking with him, the more I started to see what he was saying," he continued. "If you just hear him say something in 10 seconds or 15 seconds, you're going to think he's lost his mind. But the more he speaks about it, even when I don't agree with it, I feel like he's working through his own personal journey."

Tip said the song was recorded after a 4-hour discussion with West at his Calabasas office. He also adds he doesn't agree with 98% of Ye's political views, but he understands the angle he's coming from.

Elsewhere in the interview, T.I tells Ebro that Kanye "is emphatically certainly serious about running for president. This is a real thing."

He also touched on Gucvi Mane's claims that he invented trap music,  his marital status and gun laws in America.

Earlier, Kanye called 400 years of slavery "a choice"
