Beyoncé Buys Century Old Church In New Orleans

Beyoncé is taking her talents to the church, or is it back to the church?

TMZ reports 36-year old Queen Bey is now a proud owner of her own place of worship. That's right, the talented singer reportedly bought a 7,500 square foot house of God in New Orleans. The building, which has been out of commission for a while is reportedly over a 100 years old and was listed at $850,000. She probably got it on discount but who cares, really.

As at today (May 20), her reasons for purchasing the building is still a mystery but could an actual church of Bey be on the horizon? As crazy as that may sound, a San Francisco church (Grace Cathedral) held the first ever "Beyonce Mass" a few weeks ago and according to reports, it pulled a crowd of more than 900 people.

Rev. Yolanda Norton, a San Francisco Theological Seminary assistant professor, and one of the initiators of the Bey Mass, says Beyoncé is a true representation of black women and the challenges they face.

"When we talk about womanist biblical interpretation, Beyoncé felt like a natural fit,” explains Norton. “If we look at the trajectory of her person and her relationships, we can see so many issues black women face and how it can affect how we interpret the text.”

Next up for the chart-topper is the "On The Run II Tour" with hubby, JAY-Z.
