A New $500,000 Tupac Statue To Be Erected In Georgia

Out with the old and in with the new.

A brand new statue in memory of the late Tupac Shakur will be installed at the amphitheater in Georgia to replace the old one the late rapper's family took when they sold the center in 2015.

The new monument is being proposed by Jim Burnett who owns the coliseum formerly called the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for Arts. Nijel Binns who has done statues of Michael Jackson and Shirley Thompson has been hired to lead the project which is estimated to cost more than half a million dollars to complete.

Binns says he's creating a 7-foot bronze statue based on a 13-inch clay model of the late rapper.

According to TMZ, they're hopeful of unveiling the new monument in September - in commemoration of the 21st anniversary of Tupac's death

Just last week (April 7), the legendary rapper was finally inducted into the Rock And Roll "Hall Of Fame" at an event held at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. The event that saw tributes from YG, T.I., Alicia Keys and Treach was anchored by Pac's former Death Row Records labelmate Snoop Dogg.

During his passionate induction speech, Snoop reflected on his friendship with the late rapper and described him as a "brother," a "revolutionary," and one of the greatest to ever do it.

"Pac’s a part of history, for a reason: because he made history, he’s hip-hop history; he’s American history. And just like in school, the more research that you do on history, the more information that you have." Snoop Dogg said, "So do your research and see the movie ‘All Eyez on Me.’ And understand all of ‘Pac’s sides. He was much more than you probably think. I’m not talking about ‘Pac the rapper, I’m not talking about Tupac the actor. I’m talking about Tupac the human being. So with that said, we’d like to officially welcome Tupac Shakur into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

A new trailer for the rapper's biopic All Eyez On Me has been released ahead of its premiere on June 16th. The movie stars Demetrius Shipp who plays the role of Tupac.
