"I felt their passion, commitment, and enthusiasm from day one," Wale said in a statement to Complex. "They believed in my vision whole heartedly, and I am ready to show and prove."

Warner Bros. is a parent company to the DC rapper's former label, Atlantic Records, but he feels a deal with WB is what his career needed.

“This is what Every Blue Moon needed, this what Wale needed, this is what my daughter, Zyla, needed!” Wale tells DJ Booth via text. “I’m finally an executive. A real exec. Watch it all unfold. Once I get myself settled in I’m changing the industry the way I see fit and working vigorously to create, sign and promote DOPE SHIT. I’m richhhhh, biyaaaaatch.”

"I am delighted that Wale has joined Warner Bros. Records,” said Tom Corson, Co-Chairman & COO, Warner Bros. Records. “He is a pillar in the hip-hop community and beyond; with his cultural relevance and lyrical prose, he continues to elevate the game. Wale is truly a force to be reckoned with and we look forward to a successful partnership for years to come.”

The announcement comes a week after he dropped the Self Promotion EP. Wale also released the Its Complicated EP back in March as an independent artist. His last album with Atlantic was the hugely disappointing Shine released in 2017. The album featuring Lil Wayne, Travis Scott and Chris Brown moved just over 25k copies in its first week.

Wale's first album under his new home is expected later this year.
