Trey Songz's Domestic Assault Case Rejected By D.A.'s Office

A few days ago, stories of Trey Songz facing possible felony criminal charge for allegedly hitting a woman was making the rounds. Songz was accused of physically assaulting Andrea Buera at a Hollywood Hills party during NBA All-Star weekend in February. The singer denied the accusations on twitter before surrendering to the police.

"For weeks my lawyers & Mgmt have asked me not to comment on this and I initially agreed but this morning I feel that my fam, the women that raised me, my friends & fans especially the youth need to hear from me," he tweeted. "I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain."

Trey was booked, but was later released after posting a $50,000 bond.

New updates concerning the case now suggest the "Trey Day" singer will not be facing prosecution. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that Songz's lawyer, Shawn Holley, presented numerous witness statements to LAPD that contradicted Andrea Buera's original account of events. Holley also reportedly provided additional info that led to skepticism about Buera's credibility .

Andrea Buera - who says she's known Trey Songz for over three years - claims the singer brutally beat her because he was upset she was talking to another man. Buera reportedly suffered a concussion and had to got to a hospital for treatment.

Songz is not entirely off the hook yet. The case will now be referred to the L.A. City Attorney, who will decide whether or not to charge him with lesser charge of misdemeanor domestic violence.
